Swim  Team

MONDAY, June 23, 2025-FRIDAY, AUGUST 1, 2025 (end date of swim team practice is TBD based on head coach’s preference)

Swim Team Practices Daily: Monday – Friday, 11:00 am – 1:00 pm

NO PRACTICE ON JULY 4TH 

OVERVIEW

Swim team will begin Monday, June 23 and will meet five days a week. End date is TBD but likely Friday, August 1. Swim team participants must be five years old and able to pass the deep end test prior to the first swim meet. 

Swimmers are sorted according to their age group.

• 8 and under practice (30 min) 11:00-11:30 am

• 9-10 yrs. practice (45 min) 11:30 am-12:15 pm

• 11-12, 13+ up practice (45 min) 12:15-1:00 pm

Playing ball, tag, frisbee throwing, or any other similar games, are permitted in the grassy area only. No such playing is permitted on the pool deck or near the restrooms. 

During swim team practice, anyone not actively participating in practice at that time, is prohibited from the main pool deck. The grassy area and wading pool area may be used. 

Children may only swim during their assigned swim team time slot; swimmers may not switch or drop-in to another slot for the sake of convenience. Guests will not be permitted to swim in the pool during swim team. 

2025 TENTATIVE MEET SCHEDULE (To be confirmed)

• 7/9 – (Freestyle) 

• 7/16 -  (Breaststroke)

• 7/23 - (Backstroke)

• 7/30 - likely Wheeler (Butterfly)

Warm-ups at 5:00 and meets begin at 5:30pm. Further details forthcoming.

PRACTICE CANCELLATION

The pool must be closed and practice must be cancelled in the event of prolonged thunder or contaminated water. Notice of cancellation will be posted on the Wheeler Homepage as soon as possible, once cancellation has been determined. Please check there first if the skies look threatening. There are no make-up practices.

Thunderstorm Safety: The pool will be cleared when the guard on duty hears thunder and will remain cleared for 20 minutes before swimmers are allowed to re-enter. Each time thunder is heard, the 20 minute timer is reset.
